Keris with adeg sapu (broom hair) pamor
Full Description:
Keris Madura from 18th century Bangkalan (Sumenep). The dapur (blade shape) classified as sangkelat robyong. The pamor (blade pattern) known as adeg sapu (broom hair). The scabbard in a beautiful dark wood with a knotty pattern. The wrangka (boat shaped throat piece) seemingly a solid piece of wood, and the pendok (lower part of the scabbard) being veneered.
Often the original intention that the keris has magical and spiritual qualities is ignored, and the keris just considered an object or a weapon. In honour of the traditions of the keris and the empu (talented smiths) who made them, I would like to note what each pamor represents. Here pamor adeg sapu repels epidemics, fire, storm, floods, wild and toxic animals, manifestations.
